About Power Vinyasa

Power Vinyasa stems from the Krishnamacharya lineage and focuses on breath-led movement that creates seamless transitions from one pose to the next.

Through a breath technique called Ujjayi Breathing and engagement of bandhas (energetic locks) within the body, an internal heat is created. During the practice you will lift and hold your body weight repeatedly which makes the practice a powerful blend of strength and flexibility.

While the classes are physically intense, you will leave feeling energised rather than drained. This is the magic of Power Vinyasa Yoga at work.

What can I expect: During a Power Vinyasa Yoga class? Expect to sweat - a lot... yes, a lot! You will get a great cardio and muscle workout as we move through repeated Sun Salutations and Standing Poses. Expect to breathe and to be aware of your breath throughout the practice. Without awareness of breath, there is no yoga – you’re simply moving your body. It is awareness that generates the benefits of yoga, and we anchor that awareness via our breath.

How do I prepare: Don't eat at for at least an hour before class, two hours if possible. Make sure you’re well hydrated before class. It’s preferable not to drink during the practice if possible.  After class, drink plenty of water and eat some protein or a hearty meal to fuel your body with lots of nutrients.
